Hi Cindy,

The best way to tell is to look for the "ready" signs, such as
- Does the “pee-pee” dance
- Understands toileting words (i.e. “pee-pee”, “poop”)
- Follows simple instructions (i.e. “sit down,” “wait”)
- Dry diaper for one/more hours
- Holds themselves on the potty
- Dress/undresses with minimal assistance

Also, the other key is to make sure YOU ARE READY!  The biggest downfall is a lack of consistancy.
