DAN protocol?

5531 in reply to 5531#1 posted Feb 1

Is anyone practicing the DAN protocol.  I can't afford to see anyone in my area and am convinced that this will really help my son.  Any ideas how I can do it on my own?  Also, my son is 8 - is it ever too late for me to start?

After doing some research on the DAN protocol I came accross this site, there is also a link under Autism Treatment that should lead to finding DAN doctors that are hopefully close to your area.  As to when to start, like the saying goes, "better late than never."

Hope this helps!  ^^

That is great info Claudia.  In regards to funding, check out the forums on the issue.  I think the Helping Hands grant can assist families in need of funding for biomedical treatments.  Also, don't be afraid to ask if they do any pro-bono work or provide services on a sliding scale.

I am practicing the DAN protocol with my 3 year old daughter and have seen amazing results. I was at the DAN conference in New Jersey last month and saw success stories first-hand. Go to www.autism.com for information, a list of physicians, etc. My DAN pediatrician accepted my insurance and after the first visit has given me lots of info my email free of charge. My doctor had me start the gluten free/casein free diet before I even saw him. Go to www.talkaboutcuringautism.org for diet info. It is never too late!

Specifically what type of doctor are you looking for?  Someone to provide nutritional therapy, chelation, etc.?  The reason I ask as there are quite a few doctors I work with that provide services that DAN recommends, but are not specifically DAN doctors.
