One of my daughter has been acting up lately and when speaking to one of her teachers she felt that she may have some slight aspergers. Are there any common test online that I could use before I take her to see her doctor. Has anyone experienced defiant behavior come up out of the blue in a 10 year old?

Re: Daughter Acting Up

I don't know of any online test that you can take to help answer your questions but please visit www.butterflyeffects.com/behaviors/asperger-syndrome-main-page.aspx , which will provide you with information on Asperger Syndrome.

Behavior changes can have many possible causes but if your school age child is having frequent problems at school or her behaviors are interfering with learning and social development you should have a comprehensive evaluation done as soon as possible.

She is definitely acting up for some reason. I have scheduled both an in school evaluation as well as an evaluation with her physician to go through the littany of tests and to see what we can find out.

Thank-you for your help.

Can you be more specific when you say "acting up"?  What do you mean by defiant behavior?  After you define the behavior you may want to explore with you daughter if there is anything new or frightning that has happened in school lately.  Aspergers usually does not just occur out of the blue.  From what you are saying she did not display these types of behaviors before now.  If she has please be specific as far as what type of behavior and since when you have observed them.
