What makes a good summer camp? If anyone has ideas of what they would like to see in a summer camp program, please post! I would love to know what parents are looking for and what they would want a program to include.
Most parents of special needs children fear summer time because of the lack of structure and many other things. We worry that the skills that took such hard work to master or even make gains in during the school year will all just disappear. But I think we also forget that our children, despite their diagnosis, are still children. They work hard througout the year and deserve to have fun during the summer and have an opportunity to be included. So in a nut shell, the program that can address maintenance of learned skills with scoop of fun is the one my kids will go to this summer.
