Teaching Others about Autism

You might direct them to the website for Autism Speaks, a national organization dedicated to raising awareness about autism and helping raise funds for research. Their site is www.autismspeaks.org. They have a brief description of what autism is and how it can be treated, along with videos of various titles to watch.

My 5 yr old son was recently diagosed with autism.  My friends and family are very supportive but I can tell that they really don't understand how to act or what its really all about.  And with me being new to it as well, it is difficult for me to explain.  Are there guidelines to teaching others about autism? Maybe some suggestions as to how I should respond to their questions or remarks? Any help on how to deal with this would be much appreciated!
