Social Story on Saying Nice Things

Updated on Monday, January 22, 2007 |
By Monica Mejia
At school kids sometimes say things about other kids.
Sometimes these things may not be nice.
They may say someone is “mean, has a big nose, or is stupid.”
This is not okay.  These things can make kids sad.

When the kids talk about another person, there is more than one way to react.
I can be quiet or I can say something nice about the kid they were talking about.
When kids decide to be quite, they can walk away or start doing something else.
When kids decide to say something nice, it sounds like “I like them” or “They are nice.”

Good friends are always quiet or say nice things.
Saying something nice makes kids happy.
It is important that I be a good friend all the time.

The term Social Story is trademarked by Carol Grey.
