My daughter is now five. I adopted her almost 2 yrs ago. Now she is diagnosed ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD,ODD and RAD. She has become so aggressive that I had to remove her from her EC classroom at school, they could not handle her. I left my job last Sept and have been staying home with her. Does anyone know how I am suppose to survive now as a single parent? Any suggestions on how to handle meltdowns in public? Does anyone have a behavior chart at home, tell me how you help your child learn to control some of the behaviors. My child constantly tells me to shush, or wants to be left alone in her room with the tv for an hour or so, is this ok? Thank you for helping!

I searched your posts but could not find any information on misbehavior. My daughter who up until now has always been a 'good kid' has recently been acting up. She will out right defy any request that I ask and goes out of her way to not do what I ask. Punishing her has not seemed to help as she ends up defying my punishment as well. I would like an opinion on what could be done as I feel like this behavior is getting out of control and I want to stop it now. She has not been tested for any issues etc, however she is very introverted especially in the school setting.

Hard to get used to new nanny

My 2,5 y.o son is very sceptic about his new nanny. She has been with us for two weeks and Max still does not seem to be happy with her.Is that a sign that she is not right person or it is just normal and he needs more time to adjust to new situation? She seems nice and trustful but perhaps i should trust my son's jugment??/ has anyone had similar problem?

hard to say No

My daughter like every kid likes toys.Always when we go shopping she wants something new. When we reject buying new stuff she gets upset. She often starts screaming and makes scenes at the store. It is so ambarrasing for us so usually we give up and she can leave the store with all she wants . How to teach her that she can not have everything?Does someone have any idea how to get rid of that kind of behavior?

Potty Training Charts

Do you know where I could get a potty training chart? I keep reading that I should incorporate a chart in my son's potty training. I have no idea what they look like or what they are supposed to do. I have a normal young boy with an over active bladder [:D]

ADHD as a problem behavior

I decided to write about that because I am concerned. I am a mother of sweet girl who seems happy.Nighttime does not seem prove that. She mostly 4 times per week is awake crying. She has bad dreams about monsters and animals. What does make her to have that kind of dreams?? Is everything ok? We moved to a different city one month ago.Since than, Max ,my 3,5 y.o. son has become very naughty. He misbehaves all the time at school- he is very noisy and disturbs his teacher during class. At home is not even better ...seems like he needs attention most of the time. I am loosing my patience sometimes. I do not know that to do...maybe all those changes recently make him a different kid???

ritalin

I have a friend who has a 10-year old daughter who is diagnosed with mental retardation and autism. The doctor's have said that she is more MR than autistic. This child has had this behavior for the past 5 years, although it could be worse, it is frustrating to her parents. She will hit the glass window with her hand, and if she doesn't use her hand, she will then use her foot. One week the mother took a tally count and her daughter hit the window 86 times in a week's time. This appears to be a game to her daughter. She will engage in this behavior the most when she isn't kept busy, but may also occasionally do it when she is engaged with another person. (By the way, it is very difficult to find things that will hold her attention for long). Luckily the windows are tinted at her home, so her safety is not at risk. However, she just came back from a cruise and my friend told me that she banged and kicked the metal walls in the cabin continuously. If she doesn't have access to a window, she will hit other items, such as doors or in this case, the metal walls, t.v, etc. If anyone has any ideas out there on how we can reduce this behavior, please share your thoughts. It appears that this behavior is either sensory based or attention maintained, or both. Please advise. Thank you!
