Pinnacle Programs in Weston, Florida

After a decade of success on the West Coast of Florida, the Pinnacle Academy has partnered with Butterfly Effects and First Steps International Academy Preschool to create the Pinnacle East Program.  Pinnacle East was designed with the focus of meeting the unique needs of students with special learning and social-emotional needs.

Pinnacle offers an alternative education for children who require a highly structured and reinforcing learning environment.  Children may enter the school as early as 18 months old.   We believe that is critical to combine methods which have proven scientific results, like ABA and related “best-practice” approaches, with modified school-based curriculum.  We incorporate methodologies founded in Speech and Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy for a true trans-disciplinary model.  In the classroom, Pinnacle offers a small ratio learning environment rather than a one-on-one treatment approach to create a setting that “looks like school” and lends to increased generalization and potential inclusion-success.

For the child who has never experienced the classroom setting, an individual therapy program with special transition planning may be needed. This program will focus on preparing the child with learning readiness skills, including sitting, attending, and basic communication with an individualized transition plan. Pre-K through Transitional Kindergarten Pinnacle currently offers five programs for children ranging in age from 18 months to six years old. From beginning communication training to transition to inclusion, children’s varying levels are supported in our small ratio (1:4) classrooms. Curriculum is presented through “zone-based teaching” during the day and is specially modified to meet each child’s individual needs, enhance kinesthetic learning, and promote motivation. Structured and incidental learning opportunities emphasize growth in communication, pre-academic, social, play, and self help skills.

Several programs are designed to support children ages six to eighteen, offering an emphasis on academic skills, independent functioning, or a combination. Self management, independent workstations, small and large group activities, cooperative learning, and vocational preparation are the main focus. Our academic curriculum program offers weekly testing, an accelerated reader program, homework assignments, and “zone-based teaching”.
