Getting an assessment

Updated on Tuesday, October 09, 2007
The assessment appointment is normally two hours in length and will consist of the following in the home, school, or clinic environment where the concerns are occurring.

A caregiver interview will be conducted to gain background information. An observation will then be conducted with the child in his or her natural environment. During this time, the developer will collect video clips and anecdotal data to objectively analyze the concern.

Additional interaction with the child may be required by the Developer to complete our behavior reduction, social skills, and/or language and learning evaluations. Outside evaluations, therapy progress reports, school reports, and IEPs will be reviewed for additional data collection. Please have copies of these available at the time of the assessment. Once consent is obtained, interviews will be conducted with all outside providers involved in the care of your child. If additional appointments are necessary to evaluate the concern, this will be indicated at the conclusion of your appointment.

When will I receive the assessment results?

Within 48 hours of the appointment, the Program Developer will review the data collection and create an online account for your program. The account will include a summary of the evaluation findings, service recommendations, and action plans that describe program implementation. You will receive a phone call from the analyst to discuss their findings.
